About the IRTG
The Integrated Research Training Group
About
To provide our early-career researchers with the best possible support, the Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) was established. This program offers specialized training for postdoctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, medical students, and other early-career researchers affiliated with CRC/TRR UbiQancer. Beyond structured scientific and methodological training, the IRTG places particular emphasis on fostering networking and collaboration among early-career researchers across the different participating sites.
Scientific Exchange and Networking
Regular formats bring researchers together throughout the year: progress report meetings allow participants to present and discuss their ongoing projects, journal clubs encourage critical engagement with current literature in the field, and specialized workshops provide training in key methods and transferable skills.
A particular highlight of the program is the IRTG satellite meeting as part of the annual retreat, organized entirely by the doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers themselves. This in-person meeting brings early-career researchers from all participating sites together, offering a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, build lasting collaborations, and strengthen the sense of community within UbiQancer beyond the day-to-day work in individual labs.
Mentoring and Support
To further support this community, early-career researchers elect a persons of trust from among the PIs at each site, that serve as a point of contact for questions, concerns, or conflicts, and help ensure that the perspectives and needs of early-career researchers are represented within the wider structures of the CRC.
